PROGRAMMES
Programming is an art form in itself. It is so important that the audiences are able to relate to your ideas and understand your concept and direction. Structure, balance and a sense of journey characterise my programmes, which I always try to suit the venue and piano. They also don't necessarily follow the traditional form of starting with the earliest and ending with the latest! I really enjoy playing around with different composers from different eras, it always gives you a fresh perspective. I don't really recognise 'periods' of music and see this as a real hindrance.
This is a programme I gave for the Chopin Society in London. I have always been interested in Chopin's adoration of Bach and find so many similarities in their work, both technically and musically. Bach is the only composer Chopin is known to have studied and it is also known that he even made an edition of his Preludes and Fugues, which is sadly lost. The recital was a great success and the programme has proved immensely popular with many Societies and Festivals.
